Snowboard Yukon is committed to facilitating programming across Yukon. On-snow facilities and local leadersip are key to these initiatives.

COVID-19 and Program Fees Pandemic Refund Policy

As uncertainty persists around COVID-19, programs will continue to follow protocols laid out the Government of Yukon and Canada Snowboard. Details will be shared as training begins.

For the 2021/22 season Snowboard Yukon (SY) will continue to offer a program fees refund if a program has been suspended due to COVID-19. If this occurs SY will provide a fees refund based on the remaining percentage of the program in progress to the participant. This refund will not cover interruptions to SY programs based on weather, or other non-COVID-19 related issues. The refund does not include membership fees.

Steeps and Bumps Clinic

We are welcoming women, trans, non-binary and 2 spirited people to our 2 day Steeps and Bumps Clinic!

Suitable for intermediate to advanced riders ages 10 and up, who are looking to improve their riding and challenge themselves in terrain they would usually not ride or being scared of. A fun and exciting way to enjoy 2 days of being trained by some of the best and most qualified coaches in the Yukon.

Requirements:

  • Riders must be 10 years of age or older.
  • You must be able to ride a chairlift and is at least intermediate (snowboarded before and knows how to heal and toe edge)
  • As per Government of Yukon guidelines, riders 18 years and older must show proof of vaccination. Please bring a government-issued ID and proof of vaccination.
  • Helmets are mandatory.

When: Saturday & Sunday, January 29 and 30, 2022
Where: Mt. Sima
Welcome/Check-in: 10:30am in front of the Main Lodge – Intros, overview of the day and warm ups
Rentals/ticket office: 10:30am – for those needing to get rentals and lift tickets, you can do that after our Welcome/Check-in. For those who don’t need rentals, we’ll do a gear check during this time.
Riding Time: 11am to 4pm on snow with a 45 minute lunch break

Due to Covid22 restrictions we are unable to do Apres for this camp, but there still is gonna be some swag.

Camp Fee: $60 both days (includes instruction for both days) + Canada Snowboard Membership (for insurance purposes),1 day option available

Fee does not include lift ticket, rental equipment or membership.

Back To Snow Camp

We are welcoming women, trans, non-binary and 2 spirited people to our 2 day back-to-snow snowboard camp!

Suitable for beginners to advanced riders that are looking to get back out there on the pow, continuing where they left off last season or starting out fresh this season.

A fun and exciting way to enjoy 2 days of being trained by some of the best and most qualified coaches in the Yukon.

Requirements:

  • You must be 10 years old. 
  • As per Government of Yukon guidelines, riders 18 years and older must show proof of vaccination. Please bring government-issued ID and proof of vaccination.

When: Saturday & Sunday, December 18-19, 2021
Where: Mt. Sima, outside lodge
Time: 11 am to 4 pm, on snow
10 am check-in, gear check, pick up lift tickets,
4 pm meet at the tent outside for some apres
Fee: $60 (for 2 days)

Fees do not include: Membership, lift tickets, snowboard, helmet.

Rural Riders Pre-Season Camp

This pre-season snowboarding training camp has been developed in collaboration with Mt. Sima to provide rural Yukon/BC riders of all skill levels with a unique opportunity to participate in two full days of snowboard instruction from certified coaches and instructors. The camp will focus on fun and improving snowboard skills all over the mountain. If you are just learning or hoping to improve your park skills, this camp will have you ready for the riding season ahead!
  • Open to riders 10 years of age and older.
  • Open to beginner, intermediate and advanced riders (you will ride with people at a similar skill level).
  • As per Government of Yukon guidelines, riders 18 years and older must show proof of vaccination. Please bring government-issued ID and proof of vaccination.
  • Helmets are mandatory.

When: Friday, Dec 10 – Saturday, Dec 11
Time: 10:30 am (sign in, rental pick-up (if needed), and lift ticket purchase),11:00 am on-snow training begins, 4:00 pm pick-up.
Where: Mt. Sima, Whitehorse
Camp Fee: $80 for two-day camp + Canada Snowboard Membership

Fees do not include: Rentals (if needed), lift tickets, or helmets. Mt. Sima will be offering 10% off lift tickets and rentals for Rural Riders Camp Participants. 

Transportation to/from Whitehorse and overnight accommodations are also not included. Applications can be submitted to the Kids Recreation Fund for additional funding support. The KRF provides lower income Yukon families an opportunity to apply for funding for their children to participate in sport and recreational activities.

A current Canada Snowboard Membership is required to participate in this program. It will automatically be added at the check out if you do not already have one.

Please note: Registration for beginners has been capped at 10 riders, and Novice/ Intermediate riders are capped at 20 riders. If registration is closed we have met our maximum. Please email katrinacouch@snowboardyukon.com if you would like to be put on the waitlist.

Whitehorse Shredders
(FULL)

Shredders is an on-snow snowboarding program for novice to intermediate riders focused on fun and improving snowboarding skills all over the mountain. Weekly training follows the national Riders curriculum and is presented by coaches certified by the Canadian Snowboard Coaching Program (CSCP). Shredders train in 3 skill-based groups — Green, Blue & Black. The coaches will determine which group suits you best. 

Requirements:

  • You must be 8 years old. 
  • You must also be able to load and unload the chairlift independently, stop, turn toeside and heelside while snowboarding under control on most runs at Mt. Sima. 

If you’re not quite ready for Shredders, we suggest signing up with the Mt. Sima Snow School.

Shredders is a pre-competition program and snowboarders are encouraged to participate with their teammates in fun race and freestyle events on select Sundays during the season. Coaching at Yukon Champs is also included in the program.
