2021/22 Yukon Community On-snow Programs

Snowboard Yukon is committed to facilitating programming across Yukon. On-snow facilities and local leadersip are key to these initiatives.

See this season’s intitiatives below.

COVID-19 and Program Fees Pandemic Refund Policy

As uncertainty persists around COVID-19, programs will continue to follow protocols laid out the Government of Yukon and Canada Snowboard. Details will be shared as training begins.

For the 2021/22 season Snowboard Yukon (SY) will continue to offer a program fees refund if a program has been suspended due to COVID-19. If this occurs SY will provide a fees refund based on the remaining percentage of the program in progress to the participant. This refund will not cover interruptions to SY programs based on weather, or other non-COVID-19 related issues. The refund does not include membership fees.

Whitehorse Shredders

Shredders is an on-snow snowboarding program for novice to intermediate riders focused on fun and improving snowboarding skills all over the mountain. Weekly training follows the national Riders curriculum and is presented by coaches certified by the Canadian Snowboard Coaching Program (CSCP). Shredders train in 3 skill-based groups — Green, Blue & Black. The coaches will determine which group suits you best.

Requirements:

  • You must be 8 years old.
  • You must also be able to load and unload the chairlift independently, stop, turn toeside and heelside while snowboarding under control on most runs at Mt. Sima.

If you’re not quite ready for Shredders, we suggest signing up with the Mt. Sima Snow School.

Shredders is a pre-competition program and snowboarders are encouraged to participate with their teammates in fun race and freestyle events on select Sundays during the season. Coaching at Yukon Champs is also included in the program.

Time: 12:00 – 3:00 pm
Events: Sundays, Jan 23 & Feb 13
