Snowboard Coaching Course

Become a Coach and Get Paid to Snowboard!

Share your passion for snowboarding with young, enthusiastic riders by getting trained as a snowboard coach. Snowboard Yukon and the Canadian Snowboard Coaching Program (CSCP) will be presenting a Basic Coach workshop. By participating in this nationally recognized course, you will learn the skills necessary to work locally as a paid coach with the Shredders program, Team Yukon or even anywhere in Canada.

When: December 12, 13, and 19.
Where: Mount Sima

What’s the difference between a Snowboard Coach
and a Snowboard Instructor?

Snowboard Coaches (trained by the CSCP) work with riders who can already snowboard on freestyle and race skills for competition. If you want to coach riders in the park or coach at events like the Arctic Winter Games, Canada Games or Nationals this is the course for you. Snowboard coaches are hired by Snowboard Yukon.

Snowboard Instructors teach people how to snowboard. Skills like how to get off the chairlift, turn and stop. Snowboard Instructors are certified by the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI). Snowboard Instructors are hired locally by Mount Sima. Please contact Sima for more info on instructing.

Now, if coaching is the thing for you, you need to register for the Basic Coach Course online at: www.canadasnowboard.ca

You will be asked to get a provincial/territorial license first. The $20 Basic Competitor License is fine.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Mary Binsted, Head Coach at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 334-2944.
