The 3-day Comp Intro Workshop is the first step to take if you have never been trained to be a snowboard coach. The Comp Intro coach (or entry level coach) typically works with competitors of all ages who are new to the competitive side of snowboarding.

This on-snow course covers the fundamental principles of:

  • Biomechanics
  • Air and speed
  • Coaching
  • Planning a session
  • Analyzing performance
  • Preparing athletes for training
  • Preparing athletes for a competition
  • Long-Term Athlete Development Pathway

When: January 3–5, 2020
Where: Mt. Maichen, Watson Lake
Course Fee: $100 for Yukoners!!! (regular $350) + Coaching Membership ($50)
Minimum Age: 16 years old
Coach Snowboarding Ability: Strong intermediate skills with exposure to basic freestyle maneuvers.
Equipment: You must provide your own equipment and helmet.
Lift Tickets: You must provide your own lift tickets.

Cold Weather / No Snow / No Local Interest: If Mt. Maichen is closed or if there is low interest from potential coaches from Watson Lake, the course will be moved to Mt. Sima in Whitehorse on the same dates.
