Snowboard Yukon is committed to facilitating programming across Yukon. On-snow facilities and local leadership are key to these initiatives.

2023 2-Day Dawson Spring Camp @ Moose Mountain

Snowboard Yukon is proud to host a 2 day snowboard camp in Dawson City again this year for spring break!

Riders can register for 2 days of coaching. Join us for a fun spring extravaganza with Snowboard Yukon and their amazing coaches.

No matter your age, ability or style, come and join us and get the best out of yourself and spring at Moose Mountain, the best little place in the north.

The camp is open to beginner, intermediate and advanced riders aged 10yrs+.

NOTE: Lift tickets and rentals are not included, so please plan accordingly. In addition, helmets are mandatory.

Requirements:
Riders must be 10 years of age or older.
Helmets are mandatory.

When: Saturday and Sunday, March 11 and 12 , 2023
Where: Moose Mountain, Dawson City
Welcome/Check-in: 12.30pm in the lodge – Intros, overview of the day and warm ups
Rentals/ticket office: 12.30pm, hopefully everyone has got their gear as rentals are limited and should be arranged before signing up.
Riding Time:1.00pm to 5.00pm on snow with a 30 minute snack/water break
Price: $50 2 day camp, plus recreational membership

Rentals, Lift Ticket and membership are not included in the price.

Please bring appropriate warm clothing and something to eat or drink if needed

Whitehorse Shredders On-Snow 2023

Shredders is an on-snow snowboarding program for novice to intermediate riders focused on fun and improving snowboarding skills all over the mountain. Weekly training follows the national Riders curriculum and is presented by coaches certified by the Canadian Snowboard Coaching Program (CSCP). Shredders train in 3 skill-based groups — Green, Blue & Black. The coaches will determine which group suits you best.
 
Requirements:
  • You must be 8 years old. 
  • You must also be able to load and unload the chairlift independently, stop, turn toeside and heelside while snowboarding under control on most runs at Mt. Sima. 

If you’re not quite ready for Shredders, we suggest signing up with the Mt. Sima Snow School.

Shredders is a pre-competition program and snowboarders are encouraged to participate with their teammates in fun race and freestyle events on select Sundays during the season. Coaching at Yukon Champs is also included in the program.

Whitehorse Freeriders On-Snow 2023

Freeriders is a coached program for Yukon snowboarders who are not quite ready for the focus and commitment of the Comp Team and those who want to continue to progress their riding, but at their own pace. The Freeriders will work on all aspects of snowboarding including jumps, rail, snowboardcross and all mountain riding.
 
Travel, competitions and dryland training are not mandatory at this level, however Freeriders have the ability to customize their training plan by adding some of these programs to their season on an a la carte basis.
 
Required Skill Level:
To join Freeriders you MUST have a solid snowboard skill set such as good carving on advanced (black) runs and the ability to safely navigate intermediate (blue) freestyle terrain, (e.g. Coyote Park at Mt. Sima), although it’s ok if you want to skip a feature or two. The Head Coach can let you know if this program is the right fit for you.   
 
The Freeriders coached program includes 8 on-snow sessions at Mt. Sima. If you would also like to participate in 4 fun Snowboard Yukon competitions at Mt. Sima choose Freeriders + Events.

Freeriders may also enhance the season with additional training and competition opportunities:
  • 1 strength & conditioning and yoga session per week with Northern Strength Academy (Sept-Mar, 2023)
  • 1 trampoline session per week (Sept-Dec, 2023)
  • 4 day training camp at Whistler (TBC, Dec 19-23, 2023)
  • Outside competitions pending Head Coach approval

Watson Lake Pre-Season Travel & AWG Training Team

The Watson Lake Travel Team is designed for local snowboarders who are committed to achieving their highest level of performance. They have their sights set on Provincial/Territorial competitions, or Arctic Winter Games.
 
Requirements:

To join the travel team you MUST have a solid snowboard skill set such as good carving on advanced runs and the ability to safely navigate intermediate freestyle terrain, although it’s ok if you want to skip a feature or two. The Head Coach can let you know if this program is the right fit for you.

The Watson Lake Travel Team program includes:

  • 6 on-snow sessions at Mt. Maichen or in Watson
  • 10 dryland training sessions
  • 2 days coaching for Yukon Champs at Mt. Sima

Athletes may also enhance the season by adding these training and competition opportunities:

  • Pre-Season Arctic Winter Games training Camp (Dec 10 & 11)
  • Arctic Winter Games Trials (Dec 17 + 18)
  • Training camp at Whistler (TBC, Dec 19-23, 2023)
  • Yukon Championships (April 1 & 2)
  • Outside competitions pending Head Coach approval
